Deacon John R. Burns
A man of deep faith and wisdom passed away peacefully and comfortably following a battle with cancer. Deacon John dedicated his life to faith, family, and unparalleled service to others.
He is now reunited with his wife JoAnne, beloved sons, Thomas J. Burns & John P. Burns and his late parents John A. Burns and Esther Burns.
He was a devoted husband of 65 years to JoAnne M. Burns, dear father "Pa" of Sharon Burns, Mary Burns, father-in-law of Barbara Burns, Cindy Burns and beloved grandfather of John G. Burns, Monica Takacs, Jason Burns, Mary Catherine Ball, Nicole Burns Spiller and Ashley Burns O'Rourke, great-grandfather of Madelyn and Maggie Ball, Jackson and Logan Burns, Ruby Burns, Silvie Spiller, Charles O'Rourke, and Jenna Takacs. Dear brother of Michael Burns. Also survived by cousins, nieces, and nephew.
Pa, you have been the rock of our family, modeling faith, sacrificing for all, and working as a steamfitter (Local 601), teacher, and coach while consistently offering strength and encouragement.
We honor you now and always.
A celebration of Deacon John's life will take place on July 19, 2024 at St. Mary's Faith Community, 9520 West Forest Home Avenue, Hales Corners, Wisconsin. Visitation will take place from 9:30 to 11:15 am followed by a mass of Christian burial at 11:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Deacon John's memory can be made to the Capuchin Community Services in Milwaukee, WI.
