Age 85, of Wind Lake, WI, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2018. His loving and devoted wife, Barbara, was by his side.He is also survived by his caring daughter, Melissa, sisters Nancy (Bob) Lindner, Pat Huckstorf, and sister-in-law, Kay Fitzgerald. He is further survived by caregiver Maria Cisneros Diaz, many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends. John was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and served aboard the destroyer, USS Remey (DD-688). He was a proud member of the Tin Can Sailors, and United States Navy Destroyer Veterans. Besides spending time with his family, he also enjoyed fishing, bowling, golf, and cooking. He especially liked hosting the annual St. Patrick's Day party. He would cook corned beef for days ahead of time to insure an authentic Irish dinner. He also tended bar at Irish Fest for 30 years. He, his wife Barbara, and often their daughter Melissa, traveled all over the world. Some of his favorite places were Ireland, China, Tahiti, Iceland, Egypt and the Amazon jungle. They had many exciting and fun adventures. Visitation will be held at Hartson Funeral Home on Friday, June 8, 2018 from 3-5 PM. Service 5 PM. Private inurnment.
