John H. Hewlette of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away surrounded by his family on August 3, 2026, at the age of 81.

Born on November 13, 1944, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, John graduated from Greenfield High School before joining the U.S. Naval Reserve. He proudly served during the Vietnam era aboard the USS Hassayampa for two years.

Following his military service, John built a long and dedicated career at GE Healthcare, where he worked for 35 years before retiring. Known for his warm spirit, John was considered a friend to all and had a remarkable ability to light up any room he entered.

John shared 54 years of marriage with the love of his life, Carol (née Yerke) Hewlette. He was a devoted and constant presence in the lives of his children, Sherri (Damon) Buckett and John (Tanya) Hewlette. He was a cherished grandpa to Riley Buckett and her fiancé, Griffin Gerber; Mattie Buckett and Nick Nevarez (whom Grandpa affectionately called her “mate”); and Isabella Hewlette. He is also survived by Fred (Paulette) Yerke and Alan (Jan) Yerke, as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends he cherished.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marietta and Floyd Hewlette; his sister, Marie (Tom) Matulis; his in-laws, Marie and Roy Yerke, Ruth (Yerke) Pontier, Tom and Lois (Yerke) Jensen, and Paul and Rosa (Ceballos) Yerke; and many loving aunts, uncles, close family members, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at Hartson Funeral Home. A funeral service celebrating John’s life will follow at 7:00 p.m. The family will hold a private Christian burial on August 10, 2026.
