Age 87. Tenderly called home to be with his Savior on Friday, April 4, 2014, after a brief battle with cancer. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Joyce and his granddaughter, Carla Esparza. Loving father of David (Kelly), Daniel (Silvia), and Deborah (Juvencio) Esparza. Cherished grandfather of Courtney, Christa, Kyla, Carina, Brennan, Joshua, and Jacob. Dear brother of Al (Faye) Hoem. Special friend of Ann Olson, Mary Schmierer and adopted grandfather of Marcus and Clayton. Further survived by other relatives and dear friends. John will best be remembered for his sense of humor, warm generous heart and solid Christian values. An educator for many years, he never passed up an opportunity to teach something new. John was very proud of his family and thanked his Father in Heaven daily for his many blessings. John was firmly anchored in his faith and always taught, 'What you give out is what you get back'. A World War II veteran, John served his country by graduating early and enlisting in the Coast Guard at age 17. Always grateful, John said, 'We sure have had a great run!'
