John Evan Walton Sr. (1935-2024)
Dearly loved and deeply missed, John Evan Walton Sr, 89, of Hales Corners, WI, entered into eternal rest on December 11, 2024.
He was born in Brown Deer, Wisconsin, on October 13, 1935, to Dr. William Bradley Walton and Mabel Evelyn (Williams) Walton. John graduated from Milwaukee Country Day School in 1954, and later from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He spent his life work in Real Estate Development and the Appraisal Industry in West Bend and Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two infant brothers and his daughter, Suzanne (Walton) Coffey. He is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, JoAnn (Gawlik) Walton, his former wife, Nancy (Merriam) Koehler, his sister, Ruth (Phil) Calkins, his son-in-law, Larry Coffey, his daughter Mary (Dan) Walton Budde, his son, John (Maureen) Walton Jr. and his seven grandchildren, Megan (Nick) Lanphere, Molly (Adam) Lepak, Bradley (Cheryl) Eberhardt, Kaitlin (Patrick) Hughes, Kylie Coffey, Evan (Stephanie) Walton, Chad Walton and his thirteen great-grandchildren, Wren Walton, Theo Walton, Hayden Hughes, Declan Hughes, Wyatt Lanphere, Callie Lanphere, Hudson Lanphere, Olivia Lanphere, Dulton Eberhardt, Miley Eberhardt, Christian Eberhardt, Amora Eberhardt, and Florence Eberhardt.
John enjoyed a rich life with his family. As a youngster, he and his sister and parents would go on camping trips to Canada, and spend time at the family farm in Gays Mills, Wisconsin. During his high school years, John was an avid athlete participating in Track and Field, football and basketball. In his adult years, he was an avid reader, enjoyed being a member of the National Ski Patrol, rock climbing, photography, camping, fishing, boating and spending time with his grandchildren and his beloved dogs, Honey and Rosie.
In his later years, John could be found enjoying walks in nature with JoAnn and Rosie, and at his church walking the halls, stopping at each classroom to pray for all who passed through the doors. He had a heart for the Lord and was quite a prayer warrior. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
A service to celebrate John's life will be held at 11:30 at Southbrook Church, Franklin, WI on Monday, January 6, 2025.
