Our beautiful mom, Joy — a truly great woman — passed peacefully on February 2, 2026, at the age of 80, with loving family by her side.
Born on March 22, 1945, Joy lived a life rooted in love, devotion, and quiet strength. Though a private person, her impact on everyone who knew her was profound and lasting.
She was the heart of her family — a loving wife to her husband Roy of 57 wonderful years, and a devoted mother to her three children: Lesley Frank, Nicole (Chris) Couillard, and Jeremy (Allie) Mueller. Her greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren: Zachary Frank, Brittany Frank, Ariyanna Couillard, Peyton Guzikowski and Parker Mueller, who brought endless happiness to her life.
Joy was preceded in death by her parents, James and LaVerne Hertel and her Husband Roy Mueller. She is survived by her siblings, Judy Jackson and Dr. James (Angela) Hertel; sisters-in-law Karen (Will) Mickelson, Barbara Casper and Lois (Dick) Best; brother-in-law Gordon Mueller; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
A true homebody who always meant the best for everyone, Joy found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life: her family, her children and grandchildren, her devoted husband, extended family and friends, road trips with her husband, holiday decorations, her beautiful gardens and flowers, trips to the casino, and the cherished yearly family vacation to Hayward, Wisconsin.
She dedicated many years of her professional life as an Administrative Assistant across multiple business platforms and was known for her reliability, dedication, and strong work ethic.
In her final days, Joy received wonderful, compassionate hospice care from Vitas/Ruth House in West Allis and Elizabeth Residence in New Berlin. Our family will forever be grateful for the kindness, dignity, and comfort they provided.
Mom also had a deep love for all of our family dogs — especially her beloved little Otis, who held a very special place in her heart.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in her honor to the Wisconsin Humane Society at: https://www.wihumane.org/donate. She will be missed by many, remembered always, and carried in our hearts every single day.
Love you Mom. ❤️
