Obituary

Passed away peacefully on December 29th, 2016 at the age of 82.  Beloved mother of Jeff (Jennifer) and Brian (Jill).  Cherished grandmother of William and Vivien.  Loving sister of Carol Klenke and Donna (Art) Schmidt.  Now reunited with her husband Walter in the arms of the Lord.  A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 5th at Saint Anthony on the Lake at W280 N2101 Prospect Ave. Pewaukee, WI  53072 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 11 a.m.     Joyce grew up in Kingsford, Michigan and had four sisters and three brothers.  Her father was killed in an accident when she was 11 years old, and her youth was not great.  She graduated from Kingsford High School in 1953.    She married Walter Ulrich on Valentine's Day 1954.  They loved life and travelled to the Rose Bowl parade, New York City and the Badlands and Mount Rushmore, among other places.  They moved to Brookfield, WI in 1967 after their son Jeff was born in 1966.  Brian was born in 1970.  Walter was diagnosed with lung cancer when she was pregnant with Brian, but lived almost two years after and died in December 1971.    After Walter died, Joyce focused on her sons and developed a full life outside of the house.  She was very involved at St. John Vianney in Brookfield, serving on the parish council, as a trustee and as a member of the athletic board, in addition to helping with youth groups and other committees.  She was responsible for running the bingo tent at the annual church festival, which was something she truly enjoyed.    Besides her involvement with the church, Joyce loved her friends.  She played bridge in many different groups and had regular golf outings to Fox Hills in Mischicot, WI.  She was always on the move and would take daily walks with neighbors and friends, and enjoyed meeting her friends out for coffee or lunch.    After Joyce sold her house in Brookfield, she lived in Delafield, WI for 14 years.  She was the bingo caller for many years at Hillside Woods, and she became a parishioner at St. Antony on the Lake in Pewaukee, WI.  She again was very involved with the church and developed many new friendships.    In lieu of flowers, please donate to Catholic Memorial High School for the Our Lady of Memorial Chapel Capstone Project in Joyce's name.
