Kathi Klann (née Braatz) was born to life on April 7, 1957, on a dairy farm on Nelson Road in Oconomowoc to Wilma Gerhard (Eagle, NE) and Clarence Braatz (Oconomowoc, WI).
From a young age, Kathi had a love for, and connection to, animals of all kind. From developing the best chicken calls, to bringing home strays she had coaxed into her jacket, she loved to be surrounded by furry and feathered friends.
When presented with the trials of life, Kathi was a source of endless positivity. It seemed as if she thought that laughter was the best medicine, along with a good helping of cranberry supplement.
The combination of these traits went a long way towards putting up with her husband of 43 years, Jim, her daughters Elissa (Quentin) and Erika (Darren), and her seven grandchildren, River, Tenzin, Ani, Seri, Ezra, Isla and Junia. She is further survived by her sister Kristi (Jim), her much beloved extended family and many cherished friends.
Kathi, strong willed, stubborn and never one to give up without a fight, passed away on December 23, 2024, surrounded by family following a brief illness.
Always selfless, a perpetual giver, Kathi would help others without question. In lieu of flowers, a gift in memorial may be directed to the The Redemptorist Retreat Center in Oconomowoc in Kathi's name. The retreat center was her happy place to recharge and reflect, however, they want all to know that she has already supplied them with more than enough candies.
Kathi brought smiles and laughter to us all and will always be remembered and greatly missed. If anyone would like to leave a fond memory, anecdote, a favorite "Kathi coded" text, or any thoughts, they can be sent to:

A celebration of Kathi's life will be held at St. Jerome Catholic Church on Monday, January 6, starting at 10:00 am.
