Remembering Kathleen “Kathy” Brown
May 17, 1956 – October 3, 2026
Kathleen “Kathy” Brown, 70, passed away on October 3, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved her, countless memories, and plenty of reasons to smile when remembering her.
If you knew Kathy, chances are you remember her wearing a flannel shirt. It was practically her signature look. And in many ways, that flannel was the perfect reflection of who she was; warm, comfortable, welcoming, and unmistakably herself.
Kathy had a way of bringing warmth wherever she went. You could usually count on her showing up a little late and with an empty stomach, but her presence always brought a certain fullness to the room. She had a big smile, an infectious sense of humor, and a way of making people feel welcome just as they were.
She also had a wonderful appreciation for the simple things in life. While so many of us spend our time looking for happiness in the big moments, Kathy could find it in the smallest things. It didn't take much to make her happy, and perhaps that was one of her greatest gifts. She reminded us, often without even realizing it, to appreciate the little moments and the time we have together.
And then there was her laughter. You could laugh at Kathy, but you were always laughing with her, too. She didn't take life too seriously, and she certainly wasn't afraid to be herself. She was genuine, caring, funny, and someone you could always count on having a good time with.
Kathy was also strong-willed and determined, right up until the very end. She knew who she was, and she wasn't about to change for anyone. That strength, paired with her warmth and humor, made her someone you couldn't help but love.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Gloria and Ray Menting, and her partner, Art Morrison.
She leaves behind her three children, Tim, TJ (Colleen), and Tammy (Doug); her grandchildren, Riley, Bridget, Emmitt, and Brandon; and her great-grandchild, Ziella.
She is also lovingly remembered by her siblings, Linda, Kenny, Mike, Tommy, Jeff, Sue, Michelle, Teri, Patrice, Robby and Billy, along with her many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
There was only one Kathy. We'll miss her big smile, her laughter, her stubborn streak, and those familiar flannel shirts. But most of all, we'll miss the warmth of her presence and the simple joy she brought into our lives.
“What is grief, if not love persevering?”
