She was born and adopted to Harold and Leona Dunn on August 10, 1949, in Sheboygan, WI. After moving to Brown Deer, WI she graduated from high school and took a few classes for Key Punch. While attending a social event Kathy met her husband, Jerry. She fell completely in love and whos' love grew even stronger when they learned that they shared the same faith, Catholicism. After learning Jerry was going to be drafted, they took a trip to New York, NY and remained in touch through Jerry's short military experience. Upon his return, he proposed, and they wed September 6, 1969, at Our Lady of Good Hope in Brown Deer, WI. After one year and five days, they began their large Catholic family by bearing their first and only son and continued to have an additional 5 daughters, in exactly nine years.
Kathy loved spending time coaching her children, and coaching she did, on and off court or field with physical toughness and "sass". In her prime she enjoyed many sports to include playing softball, bowling, volleyball, and golf. One of her treasured memories was having a team with all her daughters and later a team with her entire family to include the spouses. Her love for family didn't stop at just her children; there were yearly Family "Corn Roasts" in which extended family participated in move-up, horseshoes, volleyball, basketball, etc.
Another passion was for the Lord that led her to volunteer at multiple committees at St Joseph's Parish to include the Athletic Association and St Vincent De Paul. She attended several Bible Studies throughout the years and never missed an opportunity to discuss her beliefs; or share her opinions. Her spirited attitude led to some very hefty conversations.
Also, the simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Kathy. She enjoyed completing puzzles, playing cards, fishing, and yearly trips "Up North" which evolved into trips to Florida for the last 16 years. In retirement she joined a bowling league" The Thursday Morning Coffee Clutch" League and traveled to places like Rio, NV or St. Louis, MO, etc.
She was in a Women's Bridge Club and enjoyed playing Sheepshead whenever the time allowed. In the last few years, she loved a quiet evening with Jerry and her 60's "Devil" music. She had an uncanny ability to seek the joy from past experiences and her pleasant, humble nature was a witness to her strong faith and her great love for her spouse and the growing family.
