(nee Thompson) was born in Council Bluffs, IA on September 23, 1940. She was born to eternal life on May 17, 2016 surrounded by family and the wonderful staff at Zilber Hospice. After earning her nursing degree at Alverno College, she made Milwaukee her new home. Soon she met her future husband, Ted Jakubowski, which became a loving marriage of 46 years, only ending with Ted's death in 2014. They spent the last 10 years of Ted's life and the last three years of Kathy's under the care of their beloved oncologist, Dr. Chitambar, and the kind team at Froedert's Cancer Center. Because these two people fell in love, a family was born. Kathy leaves behind her adoring children, Jane (Brian) Koss, Mary (Phil) Fritsch, and David (Jennifer Incramona), as well as four grandchildren: Avery, Steven, Nora and Libby. She also leaves behind her brother Ken (Colleen) Thompson, sisters-in-law Genevieve (Jerry) Lowery, and Lucy (Rod) Smith, along with extended family and many friends. She joins her sister Eleanor (Jack) Wiley in heaven, as well as sister-in-law and brother-in-law Helen (Bill) Nuernberg. Kathy loved dancing with her husband, and her family loves to imagine that they are dancing now together.    A visitation will be held on Saturday May 21st, 2016 from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Faith Community at 9520 W. Forest Home Ave. Hales Corners 53130 followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m.    In lieu of flowers, Kathy would like donations to be given to St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
