Kathryn “Chet” Ann Feuling (née Wright), age 89, entered God’s Kingdom on the morning of August 13. She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her daughters. Kathy was born on February 9, 1937, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, alongside her twin sister Marilyn (“Mimi”), to Marie (née Brening) and Don Wright. In 1938, the family moved to Greendale—a community Kathy cherished and proudly called home for the next 88 years, living in both the B Section and the M Section.

After graduating from Greendale High School, Kathy worked as a teletype operator at Louis Allis. Soon after, she began dating Gene Feuling, and on April 23, 1960, they were married. Their family grew with the birth of their son Michael in 1963, followed by daughters Ann in 1965 and twins Therese and Janet in 1967. Kathy devoted herself to raising her children and later joined the Greendale School District, becoming Cook 1 at the high school. As head cook, she became affectionately known as “mom” to thousands of students—always serving with love and giving a little extra to anyone who needed it. She formed lifelong friendships with her coworkers and also sold athletic tickets at high school sporting events, deepening her connection to the students and the community. Kathy retired in 2002 after 21 years of service. After retirement, she and Gene enjoyed time at their “Little House” on Silver Spring Lake in Neshkoro.

Kathy spent many years coaching her daughters in youth softball. Competitive yet compassionate, she focused on teaching life lessons and building confidence. She taught all of her children and grandchildren how to play the card game 31 and was famous for her chocolate cookies—made daily so Gene could enjoy one after every meal and shared generously with friends and family. She was an avid Brewers fan and rarely went anywhere without her baseball cap.

A proud Greendale resident, Kathy never missed the 4th of July parade or Village Days. She played an instrumental role in organizing her 1955 class reunions and was an active member of the Greendale Historical Society, sharing her deep knowledge of the village she loved. Kathy moved through life singing, humming, or whistling, and she adored singer-songwriter Roger Whittaker. After spotting him in an alley outside a Milwaukee restaurant before a concert, she ran straight to him to express her admiration.

Kathy’s faith was the foundation of her life. She attended St. Alphonsus Catholic Church from 1938 onward, participating in Sunday and daily Mass. Church was her happy place—a community where she could serve others and connect with friends.

Kathy was truly one of a kind: joyful, welcoming, and endlessly kind. She made friends everywhere she went, lifted spirits with her humor, and always rooted for the underdog. If someone needed help, Kathy was there. Her love for family and friends was unwavering, and anyone fortunate enough to know her felt it deeply.

Kathy is survived by her brothers Tom Wright and Greg (Kathe) Wright; her children Michael (Linda) Feuling, Ann Hagle, Therese (Tyrone) Cratic, and Janet (Bennet) Zweifel; her grandchildren Kelser (Brandy) Feuling, Tyrone Cratic-Williams, Allison Feuling, Samantha (Bob) Callewaert, Rebecca (Mitchell) Behnke, Riley Zweifel, Cameron Cratic, and Logan Zweifel; and her great-grandchildren Luna Callewaert, Elivia Mealing, and Addison Poeschel. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her immeasurable joy and pride. She treasured every moment spent with them and delighted in hearing about their accomplishments and adventures. Kathy also leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene; her parents Don and Marie; her brother James; her twin sister Marilyn; sister-in-law Carol Wright; father-in-law Laverne Feuling; mother-in-law Bessie Feuling; sister-in-law Barbara Redelings; brother-in-law Don Feuling; sister-in-law Mary Jane Zimmermann; nephew John Redelings; niece Linda Zimmermann; and nephew Ralph Redelings.

A celebration of Kathy’s life will be held on Friday, August 21 at St. Alphonsus Church, 6060 W. Loomis Road, Greendale, WI.

We would be remiss if we didn’t thank Kathy’s neighbor, Danny, and his family for loving our mom. Danny took care of whatever she needed—from lawn care and snowplowing to checking the water heater. She loved him like family. We would also like to thank the many friends from church, work, and the neighborhood for their continued visits. Each of you brought Kathy peace and comfort.
