Keith G. Splude, Sr. of New Berlin/Marshfield passed away at age 95 on December 4, 2019 at home with his family. He is preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn, and daughter, Michele (Paul) Bruhn. Keith is further survived by his children; Marie Lucas, Karen (Bill) Pfaff, Keith (Lisa), Renee (Dan) Hanseder, Kevin (Margaret), and Kerwyn, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and
special extended family and friends.
Keith served in the Air Force as Staff Sergeant from Feb. 1943 to late 1945 as a gunner in a ball turret. He spent a short time in a POW camp prior to the end of WWII. He graduated from Marquette University as an electrical engineer, spent many years working at Louis Allis and Eaton Corporation. He married Marilyn on July 24, 1954 and raised a family of seven children. He retired from Eaton Corp. in 1983.
Keith was a great father and teacher, spending countless hours playing baseball, football and basketball with all of us, and the neighborhood kids, in the backyard and beyond. He was always the official, unbiased coach and referee/umpire, as well as quarterback and pitcher. Off the backyard field he was a Boy Scout Master, Sacred Heart school board member, literacy volunteer and on-call electrician to many family and friends. Dad also taught us to ski; spearheading many trips to Winterpark, Colorado with some of his teenage children and later his grandchildren. And who could possibly count the number of hours spent playing cards at the kitchen table with mom, his kids and all the grandchildren, with nickels, dimes and quarters rattling around in the tin cups? I seem to recall Mom's cup being the quietest with Dad's dollar bills muffling the noise of those nickels.
And we are so grateful to our brother and his family, Margaret and Eli, for the great care given our dad in his most aging years. Words cannot express our gratitude. Thank you, Kevin, Margaret and Eli!
We will all miss you, Dad, and are happy that you are with Mom and Michele, again.
