Obituary

Kennedy, Kenneth J.   "Big K" Age 75.  Born to eternal life on May 25, 2015.  Loving husband of Eileen (nee Sullivan) for 50 plus years.  Beloved father of Brian, Danniel (Robin) and Sean (Jill).  Proud grandpa of Ethan, Colin, Cade, Eoin, Aidan, Samantha and Derek.  Great-grandpa of Sophia.  Dear brother of Janet (Greg) Gresenz, Patrick (Janet) Kennedy, Jean (Mike) Nazario and Eileen (Jack) Weaver.  Memorial gathering at St. Mary Catholic Faith Community, 9520 W.Forest Home Ave.  Hales Corners on Fri. May 29 from 9 am - 10:45 am.  Memorial Mass 11 am.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to The Irish Cultural & Heritage Center appreciated. Ken has been a devoted husband and father for over 50 years.  Family has been the most important mission of his lifetime.  Ken loved his wife Eileen with passion and purpose.  Everything he did was ultimately for her.  He has three wonderful boys who have loved him forever and learned how to love through him.  He's a proud Irish father who taught his sons what it meant to be loyal, hardworking and faithful.  Ken took the leap to business ownership as a young man and prospered for 40 years in the furniture and appliance retail industry. Under his leadership, Ken was "the man with the plan" and lived his words through actions in the service he provided to all his customers for so many years.  All three of his boys were proud to work with him in the business and learn from the best - their father.  Ken and Eileen were blessed with a unique and tight circle of friends since high school. Together, they have grown families together, traveled together, shared so many, many life experiences over the years.  For a long time, they have enjoyed Packer Sundays; gathering at local watering holes to celebrate life and cheer on those Packers!  All of his friends are deeply saddened by his loss, but will most certainly rally for their favorite Irish gal Eileen.   Summer time lake living - Ken enjoyed this the most!  Through his hard work and financial discipline; Ken was able to provide a wonderful retreat for his family on Okauchee Lake. "The Cottage" as it was well known by all who knew him was a welcome stop for all who traveled westward.  Ken drew his strength from the many quiet moments on his favorite bench off the pier. His grandchildren will always have beautiful memories of grandpa showing them how to "bait their poles" and wait patiently for the "big one".  Sunset cruises, cookouts with friends and family, along with the 4th of July fireworks will be cherished by all.  Lastly, we must share Ken's strong yet quiet faith.  His Catholic faith was his rock.  Ken led his family to church every Sunday and believed in God and his promises.  Ken may have been quiet in his faith, but his actions spoke so much louder than any words.  As said St. Francis of Assisi, "preach often; only when necessary use words."  He was the first to lend a "hand up", or whatever it took to help someone through a hardship.   "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling"
