Kerry will always be remembered for his quick wit, great sense of humor, and outgoing personality. Kerry was a true friend. He enjoyed watching the sunrise while duck hunting, and going fishing, especially ice fishing with his family and friends. Kerry was affectionately called Gumby by his wife, Mary, of almost 53 years. He called her Goo. He was a truly remarkable and talented man. He fixed anything and everything. He made cool fountains out of old lamps. He enjoyed dressing up his flying pig, that was purchased at Jurustic Park, for different holidays. One could write a book about all the facets of Kerry's life, his love of nature, crossword and word games and jigsaw puzzles.
An accomplished trapshooter, Kerry started his career in the early 1960's winning the Class A at the Golden West Grand American. Trap shooting was a family past time. Kerry and his father, Harry, were both named to the Milwaukee Journal's 1963 All State Trap Shooting team. He was the youngest shooter named to the team. In 1965, he was named to the Sports Afield All-American Junior Team. Kerry served in the United States Army for two years.
Best friend and loving husband to Mary. Proud father of Kerri (Mike), Ann (Kevin), and Ben. Kerry was so proud of all his children and loved being Grampy to four grandchildren and one great-grand daughter. Dear brother to Gale Smith, Maureen (Dave) Schick. He is also survived by his Uncle Dean Ward and brother-in-law Ray and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family. Preceded in death by his loving parents, Harry and Claire, brothers Mike and Russ, and sister Cheryl Beier. He will be greatly missed by many family and friends and neighbors. We will always remember the courage and grace he displayed as he battled whatever he faced in life. He will always be loved and forever in our hearts.
