LaVerle A. Brawner, 87, of Black River Falls,WI, and formerly of New Berlin, WI and Baraboo, WI, died Wednesday morning August 27 at Black River Memorial Hospital.She was born LaVerle Apker on March 9, 1927 as the last of five children (one stillborn) to Burr and Fern Apker in Baraboo, She married Volney E. Brawner, Jr. and had two children. She worked for many years at Gross Common Carrier in Milwaukee as office manager. She was an avid bowler, and an advocate for animals.She was preceded in death by her brother Leroy, her sister LaVonne (Schieffer), her husband Volney, and her father and mother.Survivors include a sister, Lucille (Lamar) a daughter Cheryl (Markowich) of Alta Loma, CA, a son Brian of Black River Falls, WI , two grandsons Michael and Adam, five great grand children and one great-great grand daughter.A private family celebration of life will be held September 13th at the Brawner residence in New Berlin. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Baraboo.The Hartson Funeral Home in Hales Corners and the Jenson Modjeski Funeral Home of Hixton are assisting with arrangements.Memorials are prefered to the Jackson County Animal Shelter, 403 Pine View Road Black River Falls, WI 54615 in her name.
