Obituary

Laverne M. Geiger (née Mueller), age 97, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, in West Allis, Wisconsin. Born on October 20, 1928, in Hartford, Wisconsin, Laverne lived a long and fulfilling life marked by devotion to her family, faith, and community.

Laverne was a pioneering spirit in the world of retail hobbies. Alongside her beloved husband Gerald “Jerry” Geiger, she helped establish and grow their family-owned hobby store and museum into a cherished destination for model enthusiasts and collectors. For 48 years, she worked tirelessly at the store, where her warm presence and genuine interest in others made her a favorite among customers. Her ability to connect with people—whether they were long-time patrons or first-time visitors—was one of her most enduring qualities.

A devout Catholic throughout her life, Laverne was deeply involved in church life. She sang joyfully in the choir, played an active role in organizing church festivals, and generously supported charitable causes. Her unwavering faith and devotion to Jesus Christ were not only personal convictions but values she lovingly passed on to her children and grandchildren through both word and example.

Laverne found great joy in nature’s beauty. She had a special fondness for growing violets and tending to her flower beds—a quiet passion that brought color and peace into her daily life.

She was known for being a loving and caring person who always made time for meaningful conversations with those around her. Whether chatting with customers at the store or listening intently to her children and grandchildren, Laverne offered kindness, wisdom, and an open heart.

Laverne is survived by her children: Caesar Geiger (Mari), Virginia Hayes, and Alex Geiger (Roberta); as well as numerous grandchildren: Adam Geiger (Deborah), Amy Acker, Alissa Weiler (Aaron), Caleb Hayes, Alexis Hayes, Max Hayes (Elizabeth), Kimberly Geiger, Jason Geiger (Nicole), Gary Geiger (Nicole), Jared (Kara), Kevin and Veronica (David). In total, she leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren who will carry forward her legacy of love and faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Geiger; sisters Mary Thimm, Joan Knetzger, and Jean Peters; son Clyde Geiger; daughter-in-law Candace Geiger; and son-in-law Michael Hayes.

Laverne’s life was one of service—to her family, her faith community, and the many people whose lives she touched through simple acts of kindness. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held on December 1, 2025, from 09:30 AM to 11:00 AM at St Martin of Tours Catholic Church 7963 S 116th St. The funeral Mass will be held on December 1, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St Martin of Tours Catholic Church.
