Obituary

LaPaz, Leonard M. (Bucky) Born March 27, 1944, residing in Waukesha and was proud to say he was raised in Pewaukee by his parents John and Sylvia(nee Schutta) and his dad gave him the nickname Bucky, passed away on June 28, 2018 at the age of 74. His courageous battle with cancer was admirable, inspiring and his humor, which he was noted for, was ever present. Bucky will be lovingly remembered by his sweetheart of 34 yrs., Mary (nee Kennedy-Nettesheim). Dear father of his three children, Daniel (Lori) LaPaz, Michele (Lance) Gallun and Nicole Gartzke (fiance' Corey Foerster). Grandchildren Ben (Sarah) and Sam LaPaz, Ericka, Katelyn and Shane Gallun, McKenna, Morgan, Macy, Gavin Gartzke, Elly and Hannah Foerster. Along with Mary came four bonus children, Greg (Barb) Nettesheim, Troy Nettesheim, Laurie Nettesheim and Tracy (Nate) Anderson. Grandchildren Melissa Nettesheim(Jen Carviou) Grt. Grandkids London and Lincoln, Justin (Ashley) Nettesheim, Grt.Grandkids Greg and Jeff, Jordan (fiance' Chelsea DeMarb), Daniel and Adam Nettesheim, Emily (fiance' Randy Smith) and Austin Barron. He is further survived by siblings Jerry (Jill)LaPaz, Elizabeth LaPaz, Rose (Bruce) Larkin, Lorraine Prouty and Annie (John) Schroeder along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Bucky had honorably served in the U.S.Air Force from 1962-1966 and took great pride in being able to serve his country. He retired after 29 yrs. of service on the Waukesha Cty. Sheriff's Dept., and worked for 10 yrs. at Batteries Plus. His passion and first love however were his family. Always a priority to attend the grandkids events, provide support (along with his "opinion" to coaches when his grandchild did not get the opportunity to play). He had a love for Elvis, passion for golf, playing cards (or as he jokingly referred to as "dealing with the elderly"), Wisconsin's sport teams, and between all of that a casino or two. His gift of p;roviding laughter, happiness and amusement certainly made up for his lack of mechanical ability, although he never ceased trying. His smile was contagious. He truly embraced the life he knew he was blessed with. He was a great man with a profound impact on so many lives. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father Clem Nettesheim, brother Bobby, sister Bernice Basham, brother Jack and sister-in-law June LaPaz, brother-in-laws Duane Prouty and Fred Basham.
