Obituary

Leonard H. Schaefer, age 89, entered eternal life at AngelsGrace Hospice July 21, 2014. He was born Aug. 1, 1924 to Gerald and Edna (nee Kressin) Schaefer. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Donald and Gerald Jr. He married Betty Jane Stiehl on June 1, 1946 and was a building contractor in Milwaukee, Wauwatosa, and Brookfield. He repaired electronic musical instruments as a hobby. Len was a proud member of the Masonic Order since 1947 – a 32nd degree Mason – he belonged to James M. Hays Lodge #331, The Order of Scottish Rite and Tripoli Shrine. Len is survived by his wife, Betty Jane, daughter Karen Lee (George) Mattila, sons Russell (Patricia) and Gregory (Annette) Schaefer. He is further survived by grandchildren Jennifer Schaefer, Kathryn (Erik) Walter, Paul (Dr. Noura Dabbouseh-Schaefer, and Laura (Aaron) Kowal, great-grandchildren Leah and Claire Kowal, and great-grandson-to-be- "Little Lenny" Schaefer, and other family and friends. The family would like to thank the following for their kindness and compassion at this most difficult time in our lives: Dr. Thomas Palmer, Dr. Laura Raftery, Dr. Mark Dorow, the staff in both the oncology and cardiology departments at Waukesha Memorial Hospital, the staff at Linden Grove – New Berlin, and finally the loving care at AngelsGrace Hospice. God Bless all of you! In lieu of a formal funeral service, the family will donate to the Shriners Hospital for Children. Memorials are appreciated to this charity care of Tripoli Shrine, 3000 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee WI 53233. A Celebration of Life will be a private ceremony.
