Obituary

Age 85. Passed away peacefully in her home on December 31st in the company of loved ones. She was born in Chicago to German immigrant parents Wilhelm and Eva Blasberg and was named Liese-Lotte which became the German nickname Lilo. She grew up there alongside her elder brother Peter. One of Lilo's favorite family activities was spending summers camping and swimming at the Indiana Dunes Lake Michigan lakeshore park. As a teenager Lilo joined the Y and met a group of girls that would go on to become lifelong friends. After high school, Lilo went to the University of Illinois where she earned her B.S. in Occupational Therapy and met her future husband Robert Sewell. She married at age 22 and eventually moved to Wisconsin to raise their family of 4 children. Lilo finished her Master's degree in Social Work at UWM following her divorce in 1978, and entered a career as a psychotherapist specializing in the dual diagnosis of AODA and mental illness. In her free time, Lilo enjoyed gardening, movies, art and nature. She spent many happy hours at beaches and camping. She loved kayaking and canoeing. Lilo also loved music and singing and was a member of the UUCW Choir for 47 years. She gave much time to the church over the years, from decorating for services to archiving its history. Lilo was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2012, resulting in a gradual decline in her activities, but never dulled her love of life, and especially her love of her grandchildren. She is survived by her beloved companion of 24 years and longtime friend Ann Terwilliger. Cherished mother of Mark (Vicki) Sewell of Cambridge, WI; Jeanne Lewis of Wauwatosa, WI; Daniel (Nancy) Sewell of Knoxville, TN; and Nancy (Daniel) Vogel of Grafton, WI.
