Lois Mary Walter (nee Acker), was born to this life, March 13, 1928 in Hales Corners. Born to Eternal Life, December 17, 2013. Loving wife for almost 55 years to the late Fred. Beloved mother of Kathy, Steven (Sherry) and John. Cherished grandmother of Scott, Eric (Jennifer), Megan and Mark (Christy). Cherished by Mary Walter. Proud great-grandmother of Jacquelyn, Bryan and Grace. Dear sister of Carol (the late Thomas) Spangenberg and sister-in-law of Edward Walter (the late Gloria). Preceded in death by her parents, Myron and Harriet (nee Dreyfus), by her sister, Gene (the late Peter Walter) and her brothers, David (the late Caroline) and Myron Junior. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Lois was a singer-songwriter, guitarist, and accordion player. She performed with several bands prior to becoming the founder, owner, manager and a performer in her own band, The Classic Three. Lois composed five songs that were recorded under the Pfau and Peach labels with Lois singing and playing the guitar. She loved all animals, was fond of her many pets over the years and supported numerous animal welfare programs. Determined to make a difference in her community, Lois was active in grassroots politics within the city of Greenfield. She was gifted in the traditional homemaking skills of cooking, baking, canning, sewing and embroidery. Lois and Fred worked an apple orchard together at their homestead in Greenfield for 51 years. The family extends gratitude to the staff of the St. Camillus Assisted Living Program for all the care and support given over the past several years. The family extends gratitude also to Allay Hospice for gently and kindly accompanying Lois on the last steps of her journey through this life. Visitation will be held Saturday, December 21, 2013, from 9 AM to 10:45 AM at St Mary Catholic Faith Community, 9520 W. Forest Home Ave., Hales Corners, WI 53130. Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Interment to follow in St. Martin of Tours Cemetery, Franklin, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Wisconsin Humane Society.
