Margaret "Marge" Watson passed away on Saturday, July 22, at the age of 96, surrounded by her loving family, in her own home; just as she had planned. Loving wife of Bill for over 50 years, Mom to Karrie Haugen (Dan), Bonnie Juds (Kevin) and sons Dennis, Jeff (children Danielle, Billy, Becky and Stacy). Loving "GMarge" to Katie Schoettle (Alec), Aaron Haugen (Brittany) and Taylor Haugen, and GGMarge to Ava, Molly, Lucy and Curt.
Marge's first job was as a Communication Specialist for American Airlines in New York City. After sending letters to Bill while he served in WWII, they married in 1949 and moved to Greendale in 1961 with three small kids, followed by one more (Bonnie) in 1967. After losing Bill in 1999, Marge recreated her life, traveling around the US and internationally with her beloved sister Elsie and visiting her growing extended family.
Marge was involved with the local chapter of the Garden Club of Wisconsin for over 65 years; serving in the roles of president, secretary and treasurer numerous times. She entered her flower arrangements at State Fair and other competitions, receiving a multitude of blue ribbons and Distinguished Service Awards. Most of all, though, it was the other members in her Club that brought her the most joy.
Marge's involvement with vision screening for school age children and being a "Reading Buddy" for first graders at Highland View Elementary School for 40 years are examples of her dedication to children in education.
During the past decade, Marge remained involved in the Greendale Womens Club, the Seniors Social Club and her Garden Club; continuing to learn, contribute to her community and play cards!
A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, August 26; with visitation at 10 and a memorial service at 11, at Greendale Community Church – 6015 Clover Lane, Greendale.
In lieu of floral arrangements, Marge's family would appreciate cut flowers from your own gardens for display at the memorial service. Vases will be provided.
The Hartson Funeral Home has been entrusted with the final arrangements.
