Obituary

Marilyn Audrey Feirtag-Blossom, 88, of Milwaukee, passed away peacefully on May 9th, 2025, with family by her side.

Marilyn was born on July 25th, 1936, in St. Paul, MN, to the late William and Helen (Blossom) Feirtag. She was the first of six children.

By 1955, she married Eugene Smith and went on to have five children of her own.

Marilyn was a lifelong caregiver, not only to her younger siblings and her own children but also to the patients she cared for in her 37-year-long career as a CNA.

Besides caring for people, she found great joy in caring for a variety of animals over the years.

Over the course of Marilyn's life, she showed a love of nature and learning. One of her favorite parks to visit was the Boerner Botanical Gardens. She enjoyed experiencing nature and learning about it as well. A large part of her vast collection of books was nature-based.

The rest of her collection focused on the body and mental health, which she was fascinated by. These both coincided with her faith. Her most read book was the Bible, and she credited Jehovah with creating the nature that she so deeply loved and appreciated.

Those who loved and shared her life include her siblings: Gordon, Eugene and Sue; daughter Michele Kavemeier and her husband; Dan Smith; five grandchildren: Mike, Erik, John, Tim and Hannah; 12 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and her cat, Sophie.

She is preceded in death by her children: Robert (Bob), Linda and Kenneth; her siblings, Ronald (Ron) and Charles (Chuck).
