Marjorie (Marge) Lucille Rudig, found her final peaceful resting place on November 26, 2023, at the age of 81. She was born on April 15, 1942 in the little town of Otter Creek (population 474) in Dunn County Wisconsin, the daughter of Truman and Verna Wigdahl. She was a longtime resident of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.
She had a special place in her heart for animals, with many pets over the years, including dogs, cats, fish, and a talking bird. You could always find her outside tending her numerous plants and flowers, including a huge grapevine. Her large geraniums had a special growing area in the basement during the winter. She was an avid crocheter of afghans.
Marjorie loved golfing and was proud to be the club champion seven times between 1977 and 1991 at Oconomowoc Country Club. Her license plate included "FORE". She also enjoyed bowling and curling.
She was a tough gin rummy opponent and mastered most crossword puzzles. Marjorie could be seen up early most mornings gathering her morning Milwaukee Journal from her porch and getting her first coffee of the day before starting the new crossword puzzle.
No one made the same mistake twice of calling or visiting her during a Green Bay Packer game! Besides dressing in Packer clothes, she hung a good luck wooden Packer on her front porch on game day. She also enjoyed watching the Marquette Golden Eagles.
Marjorie's background as a waitress helped her become an amazing cook. Her holiday gatherings were memorable including her sausage bread and Norwegian delicacies like lefse, krumkake, rosettes, and sandbakelse. Nobody ever left her house empty-handed.
She was proud of her Norwegian heritage and loved watching any program about the Vikings. She truly believed it was Leif Erikson that actually discovered America. She was interested in Norwegian religion and Valhalla (heaven).
Survivors include her two children Tami Erickson-Dopke (Robb) and Russ Erickson (Lori), and her sister, Janet Shupe (Hank). Grandchildren include Jayme Melter (Adam) and Justin Bloch (Ashley). She has 5 great-grandchildren: Ashtin Bloch, Lily Bloch, Layla Bloch, Logan Melter, and Raelee Melter.
Marjorie was adamant about not wanting a funeral service. Also per her request, a Celebration of Life will be planned next year in warmer weather where her remains will be buried closer to her children "Up North". She does not want any tears, but that folks should simply just toast her life with the Norwegian cheer of "Skol".
She appreciated the memories and stories of fun and laughter shared throughout the years with her family and friends.
The family would like to thank the care and compassion that she received near the end of her life at Elmbrook Hospital, Franciscan Place, and Compassus Hospice. Also, special thanks to all of her neighbors, especially Carol and Nancy for being her best friends and helping her stay in her house as long as possible
As Marjorie would have wanted, any donations may be made to Shriners Hospital or a locale Humane Society.
