Obituary

Marvin Raymond “Marv” Goelz, age 89, passed away peacefully with his sons at his bedside on January 1, 2026, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A lifelong resident of Wisconsin, Marv was born in Milwaukee on February 22, 1936, to Gilbert and Agnes Goelz.

A proud graduate of Marquette High School in Milwaukee, Marv went on to build a successful career as an Inside Sales Manager. For over three decades, he worked with Tool Service Corporation and other companies in the Milwaukee area. Known for his dedication and professionalism, he earned the respect of colleagues and clients alike throughout his long tenure in the industry.

In 1955, Marv joined the Army Reserves and served honorably for nine years. His commitment to service extended beyond his military years into every aspect of his life—whether through work, family, or faith.

Marv was a devoted husband to Cleone Goelz until her passing in 2020. Their marriage was marked by deep love and unwavering support. In 2006, Marv underwent emergency bypass heart surgery that saved his life and later allowed him to become the primary caregiver for Cleone during her battle with late-stage dementia. His around-the-clock care during those final years was a testament to his strength, loyalty, and compassion.

Family was at the center of Marv’s world. He is lovingly remembered by his four sons: Mike (Cindy), Jeff (Heather), Greg (Jaime), and Gary (Karen). He also leaves behind a cherished legacy through his grandchildren—Nathan, Amber, Garrett, Ainsley, Kyan, Ashlyn, Lauren, Grace, and Emma—and great-granddaughters Kyla, Audrey, and Savannah. His sister Lucie also survives him. Marv was preceded in death by his beloved wife Cleone; his parents Gilbert and Agnes; and his brother Larry.

Marv’s life was rich with interests that brought him joy and connection. He never missed one of his sons’ swimming meets and took great pride in recording every race result from the stands. An avid sports fan with a soft spot for both local teams and those from Detroit—he followed the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Bucks, Milwaukee Brewers, Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, and Marquette University Basketball with enthusiasm.

Marv enjoyed golfing and treasured an occasional fishing trip to Canada with his sons—moments that created lasting memories across generations. A man of tradition and camaraderie, he loved playing Sheepshead with co-workers, friends and family while sipping a Brandy Old Fashioned or Brandy Manhattan. Reading the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel was part of his daily routine—a quiet ritual that reflected both his curiosity about the world and deep roots in the community.

Faith played a central role throughout Marv’s life. A committed Catholic from birth until death, he was an original founding member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in New Berlin. He attended Mass every Sunday without fail and found great comfort in the friendships he formed within the parish community.

Marv will be remembered as hard-working, reliable, caring, supportive, loyal—and always ready with a quick wit or warm laugh when it mattered most. His presence brought steadiness to those around him; his legacy lives on through the family he nurtured so faithfully.

A special thank you goes out to the medical staff in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at Froedtert Hospital for their professional care and endless compassion.

A funeral will be held on January 16, 2026, with visitation from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church 12700 W Howard Ave. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 AM
