Mary Ann Edge Blewett, 67, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, died peacefully at home in her husband Peter Blewett's arms on November 29, 2017. Devoted to her son Hugh and nephews Steven and Michael Walker, Mary is also survived by her loving sister, Kathleen (Edge) Evans, and numerous other family members and friends. Passionate about public wild spaces, Mary loved hiking and camping. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Anita (Chisamore) Edge and her daughter, Jane. Widely regarded for her teaching, Professor Blewett won the second-ever Educator of the Year at Cardinal Stritch University. Mary also taught at UWM, from which she received a PhD (English), Carroll, MATC, and Marquette. Visitation will be on Monday, December 11, from 5:30 – 7:00 (vigil 7 PM) at Hartson Funeral Home. Funeral Mass at St. Sebastian Parish, 5400 West Washington Blvd. on Tuesday, December 12 at 11 AM (visitation at church from 10-11 AM). In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimers Association, St. Sebastian Parish, Milwaukee Public Schools Foundation, or UWM are deeply appreciated.
