Obituary

Matthew "Wheelz" Hoehn passed away on October 13, 2018 at the age of 34. Matt is the son of Steve and Cyndee (Klemmer) Hoehn of Brown Deer, Wisconsin. He was born on December 18, 1983 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Matt graduated from Brown Deer High School Class of 2002. He was part of the football and the wrestling team earning his varsity letter. He graduated from UW-Milwaukee Class of 2009 with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. Matt leaves many loved ones behind: his parents, his sister Missy, brother-in-law Chad, nieces Maya, Callie and Abby, nephew Brett, Grandma Hoehn, aunts, uncles, cousins, and best friends Nick and Michelle Jones, Joe "Tunz" Fortuna, and Nicky B; and many other friends and people that he has met along the road of life. Matt has also lost many friends to Muscular Dystrophy. Matthew loved his family with intensity. He often said his reason for living was to spend more time with his nieces Maya, Callie and Abby and to watch them grow up. He loved rock and roll music, playing poker, and football. He had a wonderful and sarcastic sense of humor. He never wanted to be defined by his wheelchair and never let it get in his way of living his life. It also did not stop him from getting into trouble. When he was in grade school he was written up for reckless use of his wheelchair. One hot summer day we had to scrub eggs off a house that he helped to egg. There are many more "Matthew" stories that could be told. He was Matt – the man, the myth, the legend. He was an amazing son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be truly missed. We want to thank all of Matt's caregivers, without them he would not have been able to live on his own. We especially thank Crystal Strehlow, Aunt Pattie, the Watson girls – Patricia, Kim, Shana and Trish, all who have been with him since he moved to his own apartment. A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held on Friday, October 26, 2018 from 4:30 PM to 9:00 PM at the Lois and Tom Dolan Community Center, 4355 W. Bradley Road, Brown Deer. Matt recently started a fundraiser to raise money for "With a Little Help" (WALH) camp. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a monetary donation to WALH https://walh.org/or The Muscular Dystrophy Association.
