Mel Allan Mickey born August 11, 1941 Milwaukee, Wisconsin- born into Eternal Life January 1, 2024
Mel was born in Milwaukee, WI to A.J. and Rosalie, they moved to Oshkosh, WI in his teens where he graduated Oshkosh High School and then from the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh with a BS in Mathematics. He recently celebrated 59 years of marriage to wife Jill Ann (Bylow) whom he met at UWO.
Mel worked in Information Technology for over 40 years before retiring to pursue his true loves- as a man of Faith-volunteering at St. Therese (lector), Skiing (as fast as possible), Woodworking (turning bowls), tree cutting (wood collecting), taking photos (of family, friends and God's creation), playing pickleball and sheepshead and spending every spare moment with his Family. His ever-present smile, zest for life and unending kindness were shared with his family and friends throughout his life.
After battling Multiple Myeloma for 14 years he finally succumbed to MDS (myelodysplastic syndrome), a precursor to Leukemia which ultimately halted his ability to live his life to the fullest. He will be remembered as the tree cutting handy man, who drove his children around the country to play soccer and worked side jobs in IT.
