Michael Gehrke Obituary

December 24, 1955 – October 8, 2024

Michael Gehrke, beloved husband and father, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at his home in Muskego, Wisconsin. He was 68 years old.

Born to parents Vera (Rokenbrodt) and Richard Gehrke in Milwaukee, Mike was the second of four children. He graduated high school from Wisconsin Lutheran in 1974 and earned an associate's degree in applied sciences from Waukesha County Technical College in 1984.

Mike was a proud union member who understood the value of hard work, reflected by his time as a welder and more than 30 years of service at UPS. He was also active in the community through his participation in charity golf and bowling tournaments, his support of local church and athletics initiatives, and his volunteering for the annual church chicken dinner for 20+ years.

After his retirement in 2013, Mike enjoyed trips and time with his family, met friends for lunch, and played many many rounds of golf. He also liked road trips and traveled to watch Badger football and basketball games when not taking naps in his chair.

He was a passionate Wisconsin sports fan who always rooted for the home team in good times and bad. He had a strong thirst for knowledge and loved Jeopardy, reading, and staying up on current events. Above all, he was a loyal friend and a dedicated husband and dad who did anything for the people he loved.

Mike is survived by his wife Amy (Henderson); his two children, Kelly and Katie; his siblings, Cary (Lynne), Wendy (Steve), and Tim; and further survived by many nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by many lifelong and longtime friends.

A Memorial Service will be hosted on Friday, October 18th with Visitation from 3:00pm to 6:00pm and Service starting at 6:00pm at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, S66W14325 W Janesville Rd in Muskego, Wisconsin.
