Obituary

Michael Allan Jankowski entered the presence of our Lord and Savior on December 24, 2023 at Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa, WI. He was born January 8, 1947 at Mount Sinai hospital in Milwaukee WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Virginia (Serowski), his first wife Joy (Helander) and a brother George.
He is survived by his wife Allana Henson, his son Scott (Kathleen), Grandson Tyler and three brothers: Dennis (Roxanne), Douglas (late Eileen) and Patrick (Julie). He is also survived by nieces/nephews Bernadette (late Terrance) Dunbar, Claudia, Zachary (Katie Ann), Kimberly (Mark) Reading, Bradley, Leanna and Alyssa. He will be missed by all at the "Jankowski Christmas After Christmas Celebration" this year where we all gather to celebrate the holidays.

Michael called South Milwaukee home. He attended Elementary school at St Mary's and then on to South Milwaukee High School where he graduated in the class of 1965. He attended UWMilwaukee studying Latin and Mathematics. While in school, he worked at Arrow Oldsmobile in Cudahy as a" lot attendant" and then moved up to a "used car set up man" where he would detail and wax the cars before they went on the lot to be sold. All that experience led him to his next job at Rawson Avenue Car Wash in South Milwaukee. This is where he met Joy, as she lived in an apartment across the street from there. He was active on the Finance Board and was a Member of South Milwaukee United Methodist Church. He was also on the South Milwaukee Board of Health. He was a Self-Employed Insurance Agent for MSI/Country Financial Insurance from 1974-2012 and could be found at his office in downtown South Milwaukee.
He retired in July 2012 and enjoyed mowing his lawn, watching the Weather Channel and found his second wife, Allana.

Michael's first love was baseball. He loved the Braves. Joe Adcock was his favorite player. He had a vast collection of baseball cards, memorabilia and framed artwork. He even collected Wheatie's Cereal boxes with sports figures on them. He also loved The Beatles, Roy Orbison and all the great music the 60's offered. He never grew tired of watching "Dr Who" or "The Twilight Zone". I was shocked to learn that Michael also played the Harmonica.

Michael was an intellectual man. He was a Member of the National Mensa Association. He was often a man of few words, but you knew he was always in thought. He always strived to remain independent even though he faced some challenges to complicate that. He had a dry sense of humor and loved British comedy. He would tell the story of working on VanBeck's farm as a kid, picking onions, every time you drove him past the old farmstead.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Aurora South Shore Hospital, Ignite Medical Resort and Zilber Family Hospice for the extensive care they provided Michael in his last chapter of life.

Michael's ashes will be laid to rest alongside his wife, Joy, at Forest Hill Cemetery in Oak Creek, WI.
A Celebration of Life will be planned for a future date.
