Michael "Mike" Kelly, age 88, of Greendale passed away peacefully on Saturday October 24, 2026.
Mike was a Milwaukee native, born in north Milwaukee on November 15, 1937. Mike was fortunate to attend Marquette High School on a scholarship from St Vincent DePaul. After high school, he attended Marquette University and earned his degree from UW - Milwaukee, majoring in economics and political science.
The best part of Marquette University for Mike was meeting the love of his life and life partner, Joanne Radtke. October 28 would have been their 65th wedding anniversary.
Mike started his professional career with Robert W. Baird in Milwaukee executing stock trades. He would spend the bulk of his corporate career in marketing and real estate with Shell Oil Company, analyzing and acquiring stations in various markets. Mike's time at Shell took him and his family around the country with assignments in Wisconsin, Kentucky, Ohio, Texas, Tennessee and Michigan. Wanting to return to Wisconsin, Mike purchased Spangenberg's Office Supply Company in 1978 in downtown Milwaukee which he owned and operated until his retirement in 1993.
Mike lived a full and active retired life. He became the athlete he didn't have time for as a youth, enjoying racquetball, cycling, baseball and softball. Mike and his wife also used their time and talents to serve others in Milwaukee, volunteering regularly at meal programs in the area.
Mike was a people person and enjoyed getting to know everyone with whom he came in contact. He was quick to offer a friendly smile and had something light-hearted to say to young and old alike. His laugh was infectious.
Mike leaves behind his wife, Joanne and his children Dan (Lena), Kathy (Bill Rosnow) and Laura (Tom FitzPatrick). He will be missed by his ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren along with great friends and neighbors.
Services will be held Wednesday, October 28, at St. John the Evangelist Parish at 8500 West Coldspring Road, Greenfield, WI. Visitation is 10:30-noon, with the Mass of Christian Burial at noon.
The family requests in lieu of flowers a donation to St. Vincent DePaul Society or a charity of your choice.
