FRANKLIN - Millie was born at home in Milwaukee on September 27, 1920. She passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by loving family at the age of 100¾ and has now been reunited with the love of her life, Roger Perry, her devoted granddaughter Cindy Lou Kuchenreuther (Birmingham) and her close friend, Joe Higgins, on June 30, 2021. M
illie is survived by her five children, Kandy Birmingham (Denis), Margo French (Kevin), Patricia Andrzejak (Gene), Douglas Perry (Colleen), and Scott Perry (Stacy). Also survived by her dear sister, Lillian Hoye (Lamboy). She will be deeply missed by her 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, other relatives, and many friends.
Millie and Roger built their home in Franklin, over a five year period, block by block and officially moved in March 1957. Millie resided in their Franklin home for the next 64 years until her passing.
She served on the Franklin School Board for 19 years, during which time she was an early and dedicated advocate of equality for girls' athletics and the fair treatment of the female faculty. She was a member of the Franklin Board of Health for 24 years and received the Distinguished Service Award from the Franklin Jaycees and Jaycee Women in May, 1984. She served on the Wisconsin Governor's Commission on the Status of Women from 1964 - 1972, appointed by Gov. John Reynolds, Gov. Warren Knowles, and Gov. Patrick Lucey. Millie was always heavily involved in workers' unions and a devoted Democratic Party member, serving her local Democratic Party from 1961 – 1971 as a delegate to the Democratic State Conventions, and was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention for Hubert H. Humphrey in Chicago in 1968. Her employment history included positions at General Merchandise, Retail Clerks Union, Office & Professional Union, Allied Industrial Workers Union, Milwaukee County Office on Aging/Family Support and Milwaukee County Clerk of Courts, where she officially retired in February of 1989.
She loved card games, puzzles of all kinds, and the Green Bay Packers. But most of all, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was the best mom, grandma, and great grandma that anyone could hope for.
