Elda Nadine Brookman aka Nadine, age 86, passed away peacefully October 11th due to
lung cancer. She was born on November 14th, 1934 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Fred and
Esther Frank. She met Richard Brookman and was married at age 16. Together they had 4 children all girls: Lona, Wendy, Shelly, and of course little Lori. At the age of 42, her first granddaughter, Jennifer, was born and Nadine jumped in and raised her. Nadine was divorced after 24 years and became a single parent. She was preceded in death by her father Fred Frank, her mother Esther Frank, her brother Eugene "Buddy" Frank, and her daughter Shelly Brookman.
Nadine was definitely a talker. She had a great personality, and everyone loved to talk to her
and listen to her stories, of which she had many. She enjoyed her bowling league, being a Brownie Leader, and volunteering in the children's room at her church. She also enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, dancing, and later in life she began playing her favorite game, dominos. She especially loved playing dominos till wee hours with her grandchildren. She loved camping in Crivitz with her family, picnicking with family friends, and attending church. Although, most important to her was surrounding herself with her daughters, her 10 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Nadine worked for Briggs and Stratton for many years. She also worked for Pick and Save
until she was 74. She was a very hard dedicated worker. After retiring Nadine moved to
Heritage Square Senior Housing in West Allis, where she made several wonderful friends.
Nadine is survived by her three + Jennifer daughters, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who will all miss their Granny very much. Granny has had a profound effect
on all of our lives. We will miss her greatly.
