Nancy (nee Anadell) Moore
Mom passed away into eternity early in the morning on March 28, 2024.
Mom was born to Leon and Elfrieda Anadell on October 4, 1935, at their home in Milwaukee. The doctor worked hard for several minutes to get her breathing. He did not quit which provided the opportunity for a full life and for her and 20 descendants to date.
Born in the depths of the Great Depression, the family ran a corner grocery store in Milwaukee called Anadell Brothers. On December 1, 1941, the family moved into a modest North Greenfield Cape Cod that her parents built, just days before the attack on Pearl Harbor. (The city was later renamed West Allis.) Mom's two older brothers, Jim and Leon, soon went off to WWII in the Pacific. A younger brother Tom served in Vietnam in the late 1960s. The home in West Allis was passed to her son Guy and remains in the family today.
Mom also had twin siblings, Alan and Audrey. All her immediate family, except her younger brother Tom who resides in Arkansas, preceded her in death.
Mom married Dad, Albert Moore in 1955 and moved to Los Angeles in 1957. After completing a few moves back and forth between Milwaukee and Los Angeles, she settled into her favorite house in Hales Corners. The house was expanded to include a great room with a natural fireplace and a formal dining area. The family lived in Hales Corners through the 1970s.
In 1978, Mom and Dad moved to Simi Valley, CA, and remained there for over 35 years. After Dad passed away, Mom returned to West Allis in 2007 and bought a home not far from where she grew up. She was able to enjoy spending time with her Wisconsin family over her remaining years.
Mom is survived by her three children Guy (Kathy) Moore of Muskego, David (Rosie) Moore of Prescott, Arizona, and Susan Moore of West Allis. She is further survived by seven grandchildren Guy Michael (Jessie) Moore of West Bend, Melissa (Anthony) Nissen of Greenfield, and Kevin (Kristina) Moore of West Allis. In Arizona, Aaron (Rachel Lynn) Moore, Matthew (Hannah) Moore, Rachel Moore, and Jerad Moore. She also has eight great-grandchildren in Wisconsin: Hailey, Micah, Maxwell, Silas, Benjamin, Summer, Annabelle, and Madeline. There are two additional great-grandchildren in Arizona, Evie and Allie. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Mom enjoyed reading, especially in the winter sun on her den couch while living in her home in Hales Corners.
She was a great mom who came through great difficulties growing up during the Great Depression and World War II. She instilled qualities such as never quitting, self-learning, pursuing higher education, and being disciplined. Mom was an excellent student and artist who was never able to attend college. She encouraged her children to do so and helped them by paying their tuition.
Special thanks to Elizabeth Residence in New Berlin where mom spent her last year in memory care.
