With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Nancy (Piotrowski) Rolland, who left this world on December 10, 2024.
A wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she lived her life with immense courage, generosity, and love. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, adventure, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Throughout her life, Nancy was known for her adventurous spirit. Together, she and her husband, Steve, and their children made lasting memories—not by accumulating material things but by spending time together. Trips were the gifts they cherished most, and she understood, perhaps better than anyone, how precious time truly is.
She found so much joy in exploring the world around her and sharing those moments with those she loved.
Nancy was a woman of quiet strength. She fought two courageous battles with cancer and was given a 20% chance of surviving, but as she always did, she defied the odds and fought for more time. While Nancy had several health battles throughout her life, she never wanted to be seen as a patient. Instead, she focused on her family, pouring her energy into giving them boundless love, care, and countless happy memories.
Nancy was a woman of many passions, each pursued with love, joy, and an infectious spirit. She took great pride in creating a warm and welcoming home and was always ready to share it with others. Whether she was baking her signature chocolate chip cookies, crafting beautiful baskets, cross-stitching intricate designs, or making Halloween costumes for her children, Nancy was always busy creating something special while singing along to her favorite songs by James Taylor, the Cranberries, Sade or REM.
A devoted fan of the Brewers and Packers, Nancy cheered for her teams with boundless energy, always eager to talk sports and celebrate a win with her family. Yet, no matter what she was doing, all Nancy ever truly wanted was for her family to feel loved and walk into each day with a smile. She made the simplest moment special and gave of herself selflessly, always putting others before herself and never asking for anything in return. Her generosity, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those she loved knew no bounds.
Though she is no longer with us, Nancy leaves behind a family that loved her deeply. She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of nearly 50 years, Steve; children Shawn (Liz) and Sara (Dustin); and five beautiful grandkids who are so fortunate to carry her love forward with them (Ethan, Sarah, Lucy, Miles, and Brynn). She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur, and mother, Margaret, who loved their only daughter, Nancy, more than words can explain.
A private celebration of Nancy's life will be held to honor her remarkable spirit and the legacy she leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Friends of Arches National Park in her memory.
Rest in peace, Nancy. Your strength, love, and adventurous spirit will live on in each of us forever.
