Obituary

Penny P. Halle passed away February 27, 2025, at the age of, who are you kidding? Penny never gave out her age.

Penny is survived by her son Timm (Christy) Hintz, her grandson Jaxson, her brother Larry (Kathy) Panek, her niece Lisa Thompson (Bryan Thompson), her brother-in-law David (Darlene) Keca and nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her husband Dennis Halle and her parents William (Joan) Panek.

Penny worked as a children's librarian at Muskego Public Library, she ran many programs and events, including book clubs, Dr. Seuss day, a wine tasting, along with a two day conference for adults, Murder and Mayhem in Muskego. Together with her good friends Jon and Ruth Jordan, mystery authors from all over were flown in to talk about their books, people in attendance had the opportunity to purchase books and have the authors autograph them. Murder and Mayhem in Muskego became a must attend event for all mystery readers. Penny's love of reading showed through in her work at the library and all of events she coordinated.

After retiring from the library Penny volunteered at her grandsons elementary school as the school librarian, she worked closely with all the teachers to inspire a love of reading into the children. When Penny wasn't busy with her grandsons school, Penny and Dennis (husband) would hit the road with their grandson Jaxson. They traveled to St. Louis, Florida, New Orleans, also there were many small local adventures to zoo's, Cave of the Mounds and of course Story Book Gardens.

Penny was a mom, a mother-in-law and a Nana, she had a great impact on a lot of people through the years, and will be deeply missed by many including mystery authors, who became friends. Here are a couple of quotes from the authors that attended Murder and Mayhem in Muskego: "You know when I started to feel like a successful mystery writer? It was when Penny Halle became a fan." Tom Schreck. "When she smiled at you, you felt like you were the most special person in the room...she smiled a lot." Reed Farrel Coleman

The family would like to thank the staff at St. Croix Hospice, the staff at Vitas Hospice and Josie at Oasis Senior Advisors for all of their assistance in the care of Penny. Also a huge thank you to her niece Lisa Thompson for taking great care of her through the last year.
