Peter James Fortmann, 47, of Greenfield died unexpectedly on September 1, 2025.

Born May 11, 1978, Pete spent his formative years in Mukwonago. He then earned degrees from UW-Platteville and Cardinal Stritch University, an education that was both extensive and expensive. After working in several districts, Pete settled into Golda Meir where he taught for 10 years. His classroom successes resulted from his sense of humor, clear expectations, and empathy. He mastered the art of showing students how to learn, not just what to learn.

Pete was preceded in death by his father, James Fortmann. Survivors include his daughter, Harper, his mother, Candy Stapleton, his brother, Sean (Amber), his nephews Sam, Max, and Tommy, and numerous other friends and relatives.

A celebration of Pete's life will be September 19, 2025, with visitation starting at 5:00pm, and service starting at 7:00pm at Hartson Funeral Home, 11111 W. Janesville Rd., Hales Corners, WI.
