Richard Wheeler CallenderOf Muskego, formerly Greendale, WI died peacefully after a 10 year struggle with Parkinson's. We admire his love of family, zeal for learning, interest in people, and creativity. He is survived by Nancy Watkins Callender, his wife of 58 years, his children, Charles, and wife, Shelly Dutch, Julia Weymier, and grandchildren, Alex and Emily Weymier, sister-in-law Barbara Francis, husband Wayne, niece and nephew and many friends. Dick was community and world minded. He taught for MPS for 31 years (Audubon, Pulaski, Milwaukee Tech). Highlights of that time included work with Junior Achievement, debate, a travel fellowship to Japan and exchange year in Puerto Rico. He was active with AFS student exchange program for 25 years, a strong contributing member of Friendship Force and active in sponsorship of two refugee groups. He worked with Boy Scouts and Explorers. Dick was a member of Greendale Community Church for over 50 years where he held many leadership positions and sang in the choir. Outdoor interests were x-country skiing and camping. Many thanks to the caring staff of Tudor Oaks Health Center. Celebration of Dick's life will be held Sat., April 9 at 11:30 at Greendale Community Church, 6015 Clover Lane, Greendale. Visitation from 10:30.
