Kaneiss, Richard J. Age 83, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2013. Richard was born on November 16, 1929, to the late Arthur and Jeanette Kaneiss in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He went to Boy's Tech High School and honorably served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Richard went to work for The Milwaukee Journal and The Milwaukee Sentinel as an artist and continued to work at the Milwaukee Journal until he retired 37 years later, during which he became the editorial illustrator and eventually one of the art directors of the paper. Richard enjoyed his artwork, creating numerous covers for the 'Let's Go' section of the paper, as well as giving life to hundreds of landscape, portrait, and abstract paintings. In his younger days he enjoyed carpentry, golf, fishing, and duck hunting. He was a true Renaissance man who sadly died from complications of Alzheimer's disease and cancer. Richard married the love of his life, Margaret Paquin, on June 16, 1951. Together they had three children; Kristine Zastrow, Michael (Connie) Kaneiss, and Patricia (John) Grivas. Richard is survived by his children, four grandchildren; Jonathan (Christine) Koch, Christopher (Jillian) Koch, Kyle (Jenna) Kaneiss, and Daniel Kaneiss, 6 great-grandchildren, and one nephew, Franklin Scott (Lanna) Kaneiss. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Franklin, and his wife, Margaret.Cemetery:Interment Valhalla Memorial Park.Visitation:Visitation will be at the Funeral Home Monday, August 19, 2013 from 11 AM to 1 PM.Service:Funeral services at 1 PM.
