Obituary

In Loving Memory of Richard Malcolm Radell, "Dick"
May 25, 1938--July 27, 2024

Dick, a devoted father, husband, faithful Christian, proud Navy veteran, and adventurous outdoorsman, passed away at the age of 86.

He was born in Oak Park, Illinois to Robert and Viola Radell. His journey of faith began as a teenager through his involvement in Awana where he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. Later he became an Awana leader, guiding and mentoring many children. He continued to nurture his faith through out his life, later serving as a deacon at Brookside Baptist Church.

Dick was a graduate of Austin High School in Chicago and the University or Illinois with a degree in Restaurant Management. After graduation, he served in the Navy as a LTJG and was stationed first in Adak, Alaska and then Moffett Field, California.

After his military service, Dick pursued his passion for the culinary arts in the restaurant and hospitality industry. He was employed by the Marriott Corp. while living out east in Maryland and Delaware. In Wisconsin he joined the Marcus Corp. and also was an instructor at WCTC in the hotel and culinary management programs.

Besides his professional achievements he found time to be an appreciated Scoutmaster.

His great love for sailing was evident in his many adventures in the open waters, expecially on family sailing vacations in the Chesapeake Bay area. Locally, he was a member of the Milwaukee Sailing Center.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary; son, Robert "Mark" Radell (Debbie), daughter, Catherine Rosenberg (David); grandchildren, Angela Zeman (Dan); Amanda Rosenberg; Andrew Rosenberg, and great grandchildren, Austin and Mason Zeman.

A memorial celebration of Dick's life and faith will be held on Sat. August 24 at 11am at Brookside Baptist Church, 4470 N. Pilgrim Road, Brookfield, WI.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to Awana, or Brookside Baptist Church.
