Richard Rundel passed away peacefully on June 1, 2022 at the age of 87. at the Wisconsin Veterans home.
Preceded in death by his wife Mary (nee Bretza), son Steven, parents Arthur Rundel and mother Rose (Ollie) Reuter. Survived by daughters Karen (Paul) McBride and Jenny (Pete) Jaszewski. Grandchildren: Nicole McBride, Brandon (Karleen) McBride, Jessica Jaszewski and Lexi Jaszewski. One great-grandchild, Ariyana Stalsberg. Further survived by brother Jim (Fran), Geri Coen, brother Chuck (MaryLou) Reuter, many other nieces, nephews and friends.
Upon graduation from Rufus King High School, he joined the U.S. Air Force as a base accountant. October 7, 1959, met and married his wife Mary. Then stationed in Fairchlid Air Force in Spokane, Washington. After the birth of 1st child, Karen, they moved back to Milwaukee. Stationed in Greenland, and remained stationed in Turkey for the Cuban Missile Crisis as a base accountant. After returning home to Milwaukee, Richard earned his degree in accounting from Spencerian College in Milwaukee. He provided both public and private accounting, while raising his family.
As the family grew with the birth of Steven and Jenny, Richard enjoyed spending his time with the family. He was an avid golfer, Loved watching the Brewers, and Packers. He also enjoyed following Marquette and Notre Dame as he was so proud of his grandson graduating from both Universities. He enjoyed all aspects of his children and grandchildren's lives and activities. He would say, "Buttons are popping off my chest, as proud as a grandpa could ever be. They are still popping!" He felt this way about all of his children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter. He was known for his sense of humor, willingness to help others and his love for dogs. Richard will be greatly missed.
