Robert LaFollette Phillippi
September 2, 1928 – August 5, 2025
Bob grew up on a farm in Pittsville, Wisconsin, along with his 10 brothers and sisters. His life there taught him the value of hard work, and he carried this belief with him throughout his long life.
He was drafted into the Army and served in the artillery with the 160th Field Artillery, 45th Infantry Division during the Korean War, and soon after married the love of his life, Donna (Rego) Phillippi. Together they built their home, brick by brick, and also built a marriage that lasted over 72 years.
Bob's joy extended to his four daughters: Colleen (Tim) Zietlow, Diana (Rich) Gibson, Sheri Phillippi and Susan (Rod) Kramer. He was delighted to be called "Papa" by four grandchildren: Jennifer (Bret) Bruning, Karen (Troy) Johnston, Chris Zietlow and Michelle (Dan) Stich, along with eight great-grandchildren: Caitlyn, Paige, Owen, Quill, Lydia, Matthew, Phoebe and Zachary. He is also called "Uncle" by numerous nieces and nephews and "Friend" by many.
Bob worked long hours with the Milwaukee County Highway Department as a heavy equipment operator. He will be remembered always for his love of family, for travel, for his flowers, and for the Milwaukee Brewers and the Green Bay Packers.
A visitation will be held at Hartson Funeral Home in Hales Corners on Friday, August 22nd at 11:00 followed by a service at 12:00. Internment will be in Pittsville, Wisconsin, at Mound Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Custom Canines Service Dog Academy, an outstanding dog training facility helping veterans and others experiencing PTSD or traumatic event experience. It is a non-profit organization and is well worth a look at their website and to make your donation there.
