Obituary

Robert "Bob" Witte, age 94, entered the arms of Jesus Christ on August 20, 2021 at his home in Muskego. He was born September 10, 1926 in Milwaukee to Robert and Viola (Shaver) Witte. He was the beloved husband of Dolores (Sadler), who preceded him in death. Married on May 5, 1951 at Faith Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, Robert and Dolores were the parents of Robert F. Witte and Rochelle (Witte) Hackmann.

Throughout his life, Bob was active with both work and hobbies, and was a member of the Lutheran Church. Bob served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After his discharge, he returned to work at Allis Chalmers, where he had worked preceding his enlistment. He left that job to work at the U.S. Veterans Administration. After ten years there, he worked for the U.S. Post Office, where he retired in 1973. Cars were an important part of Bob's life, from the 1928 Ford he bought to go from school to work, to his current Mercury sedan. His favorite cars, however, were the Hudsons which he and Dolores collected and showed. Bob and Dolores were active members of the Chicago/Milwaukee Chapter of the Hudson Essex Terraplane Club. With the club, they traveled across the country, displaying their cars and gathering with like-minded people, including their son, Bobby. These travels with friends provided many fond memories. Bob was also an active member of the American Legion and the Foresters.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife Dolores, his parents, his son Robert "Hudson Bob" Witte and his granddaughter, Violet. He is survived by his daughter Rochelle (Darren) Hackmann, daughter-in-law Debra Witte, brothers-in-law Richard and Frank (Barbara) Sadler, grandsons Robert Vaccarella and Matthew Hackmann, cousins James "Red" (Bonnie) Lovald, Richard Herman, and Dorothy Perkl, as well as other relatives and many friends.
