Ross Walker Obituary
Ross Brian Walker was reunited with his husband and partner of 67 years, Erv Uecker on April 8, 2025. Ross leaves behind extended family and many friends who have become his chosen family from Alexian Village, Pilgrim United Church of Christ in Grafton, WI and Grace Lutheran Church in Thiensville, WI.
Ross served his country in the Army and was highly patriotic his entire life. He worked for a while as an auditor at the Sherman House Hotel in Chicago, before going back to school and becoming certified as a Special Education Teacher. He worked for the Chicago Association of Retarded Citizens for several years before working as a Special Education teacher for 12 years in the Chicago Public School system.
Ross was also very involved with his husband Erv Uecker as Erv served as Pastor to St. Luke's in Chicago, serving in many capacities at the church for many years. After the years at St. Luke's, Ross and Erv purchased a farm in Wisconsin and proceeded to breed about 60 horses for several years.
Ross was an excellent cook and baker. He found great joy in sharing his culinary skills with the various churches and organizations he belonged to his whole life long, as well as with family and friends.
Both Ross and Erv were instrumental in the Brady East STD Clinic in Milwaukee, with Ross taking on the Clinic President role, and wore many hats during years at the clinic. Ross and Erv received many awards over the years for their work in and contributions to the LGBTQ+ community in Milwaukee.
In more recent years, Ross had become the genealogist extraordinaire. He not only took his own family history back many generations, but has used his skills for family and friends to trace their family histories as well. Ross believed that everyone needs to understand their roots.
Ross will be greatly missed by all those who love him. We are all very happy for Ross and Erv that they are back together once again!
A wonderful article was published recently by Michail Takach of the Wisconsin LGBTQ History Project regarding the tremendous 67 year love story between Ross and Erv. Here is a link to that article: https://tinyurl.com/ervandross25
