Ruth V. BeattieAge 97, formerly of Whitewater, WI passed away on November 21, 2017. She was born February 26, 1920 in New York, NY the daughter of Rev. K.O. and Agnes (nee Gilbertson) Brudevold. She was a graduate of Two Harbors, MN High School and Twin Cities Business School in Minneapolis, MN. She was married to Dr. A. Donald Beattie on July 12, 1946 in Minneapolis, MN. They and their 4 children moved from St. Cloud, MN to Whitewater, WI in 1962 when Dr. Beattie became the first Dean of the School of Business and Economics at UW-Whitewater. Dr. Beattie was killed in an airplane crash in Vietnam on March 23, 1967 while serving on an educational government mission. Ruth is survived by their two sons, Dr. Robert (Rosanne) Beattie of Princeton, MN, and Keith (Elissa) Beattie of Oconomowoc, WI and their two daughters, Carol (Bill) Evers of Muskego, WI and Lois (Jim) Gray of Whitewater, WI. Also survived by 8 grandchildren: Mark (Ingeborg) Beattie and Jill (Garrett) Zielinski, Joy Beattie, Doug (Debbie) Beattie and Donny (Jill) Beattie, Brian (Natalie) Evers and Kelly (Jayson) Eschrich, Jimmy (Heather) Gray as well as 14 great-grandchildren and another baby boy due in December. Also survived by her brother Oscar Brudevold of Minneapolis, MN and brother-in-law Rev. Larry Mathre of LaQuinta, CA. In addition to her husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her brother Rev. Bennett Brudevold and his wife Helen, sister Blanche Mathre, and sister-in-law Doris Brudevold. Special thanks to the staff at Hales Corners Care Center for their compassionate care.
