Ruth Ellen Meeth (Brereton) was born on September 6th, 1926, to Frances and George Brereton in La Grange, Wisconsin. Ruth passed away on February 11th, 2024, in the loving company of her family at Angels Grace Hospice in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, George and Frances, her husband, Lawrence, her son, Jerome, and her brothers Don, John, Bob, and Bill, as well as her in-laws Janet, JoAnne, Ernie, Bob, and Dennis.
Ruth is survived in death by her sisters Mary Murdock of Troy Center and Nancy Kiepert of Heartland, her daughter Sally Meeth-Tevik of Mukwonago, granddaughters Heidi (Larry) Sowatzke of Medford and Laura Brugge of Pewaukee. Her five great-grandchildren Joseph (Paige) Lutovsky of Plover, Jacob Lutovsky of Stevens Point, Joshua Lutovsky of Plover, Ashley Sowatzke of Medford, and LJ Swoatzke of Medford, along with many other nieces, nephews, family, friends, and loved ones.
Ruth spent most of her early years on her parents' farm and received her early education in a one-room ward school in Little Prairie. She later graduated from Whitewater City High School in 1944. Ruth was a hard worker and held positions at Country Park and Seifert's Lincoln Tap, where she prepared Paul Bunyan burgers and fish fries, respectively. She married her husband of 42 years, Lawrence J. Meeth, on October 12th, 1946.
Ruth owned Larry's Bait and Sporting Goods from 1973 to 2002 and was well known in the community. A proud charter member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 7221 in Mukwonago, Ruth also belonged to Homemakers and loved to cook and bake. Ruth was loved by everyone whose lives she touched and will be sorely missed.
A visitation and memorial service for Ruth will be held on July 19th 2024 at Hartson Funeral Home in Hales Corners Wisconsin. The visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. and the service will be held from 3:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M.
