Ruth Elaine Pavlet passed into her Savior's waiting arms on January 14, 2022 at Froedert Hospital in Menomonee Falls. Ruth was born at home on April 6, 1931 to Alfred and Lorraine (Janovsky) Meier. She was baptized into God's family and confirmed her faith in Jesus as her Savior at Whitnall Park Lutheran Church. At one time she lived in a home her parents rented at the location of the present Hartson's Funeral Home. From 1937 to 1945 her family owned a grocery store/butcher shop at 10527 W. Forest Home Avenue.
Ruth graduated from West Milwaukee high school on June 12, 1949 and met Howard Clayton Pavlet at a dance at the Eagles' Club in Milwaukee in late 1951. After a whirlwind romance, Howard married Ruth on February 23, 1952. During four years of apartment living, Howard bought land in Muskego and built a home almost entirely by himself on Woodland Place, moving into it in 1956. Ruth lived in this same house for the rest of her life. Initially a business secretary, Ruth became a stay-at-home mom and homemaker for her carpet-layer husband for the past 68 years. In addition to her dedication and love for her family, she was fond of her flowers, her antiques, and all animals, especially her cats.
Ruth is survived by Howie, her husband of nearly 70 years, by her daughter Susan Lynn (Robert) Fink of Manitowoc, and her son Terry Howard (Kathy) Pavlet of Dousman. She is further survived by two grandsons, Jacob (Shelly) Fink of Milwaukee, and Jared (Abbey) Fink of DePere, and three granddaughters, Anna (Andrew) Hill of St Paul, MN, and Maya and Lauren Pavlet of Dousman. She also enjoyed the blessing of a great-granddaughter, Effie Fink, for the past year and a half.
Ruth is also survived by six nieces and six nephews, as well as 16 grand-nieces/nephews. Special thanks for the dedicated care and love shown to Ruth by her niece Julie Buss over the past several years. Preceding her in death were her parents, her brother Earl and his wife Ruth, her sister Dorothy and Dorothy's husband Bruce Kunde, and her dear sister Jean and Jean's husband Ray Buss.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Hartson Funeral Home of Hales Corners. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 12:00 on January 29, 2022, followed by the funeral service at noon. Immediately after the service at Hartson, a light lunch will be served at St Paul's Lutheran Church of Muskego. Burial will be in the parish cemetery of St Paul's Church. Pastor Jeffrey Bonack will officiate.
The family would like to express thanks for the excellent care given to Ruth in her final days by Froedert Hospital of Menomonee Falls and by Horizon Hospice Care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St Paul's Lutheran Church of Muskego.
