Loved & Remembered
Sharon Wernette (nee Mackey) went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 23, 2022 at the age of 76. Preceded in death by her parents, Jerome and Eleanor Mackey, and her sisters Carol and Judy Mackey.
She is survived by Thomas Wernette, her loving husband of 54 years who faithfully cared for her through her many years of medical issues. Beloved mother of Jane (Todd) Benton, Rob (Cheryl) Wernette, Carol (Wes) Abuya, Kate (Phil) Allen, and John (Becky) Wernette; and Grandmother to Nathan, Zach, Amelie, Ethan, Max, and Ezekiel. Also survived by her sister, Ellen.
As a godly wife and devoted mother & grandmother, she prayed daily for her family and regularly prayed for many others she knew. Her spiritual foundation was the Word of God, which she read every day and studied weekly with other ladies for over 40 years. Sharon was a wonderful example of servanthood, not only through the faithful care of her family, but also serving her church in various capacities, with the focus on training up children in the knowledge of God. Through the years she shared the love of God (our Heavenly Father) with many people, including school children, young women seeking counsel about an unplanned pregnancy, special guests who served in Christian ministry, friends from Bible study and a host of medical staff and fellow patients.
Sharon was also an avid reader and a baker. She blessed many people by the range of cookies, cakes and tasty treats she baked and shared. Leading by example she fostered a heart for service in her family.
While facing new challenges related to her frail condition, she inspired many to remain faithful in fulfilling even the smallest tasks because little done in the strength of the Holy Spirit accomplishes much. Unwavering in her trust in Lord, she has left a legacy of strong faith for us to cherish. By the grace of God, she persevered in her faith in the midst of ongoing health struggles and pain, and was indeed a good and faithful servant.
A service to celebrate (God's grace in and through) Sharon's life is planned for Saturday, February 5th at Grace Bible Church in West Allis (2643 S 117th St). Visitation at 1:00 pm and Celebration of Life at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers memorials to Grace Bible Church appreciated.
