Thomas J. Alioto, son of Thomas and Helen (nee Hentz) Alioto, passed away peacefully on April 21st, 2024. Born on September 12,1927.
Tom enjoyed recounting stories of his youth while growing up on the East Side of Milwaukee, particularly as regards to the Brady Street neighborhood and the home on Franklin Street where he was raised. He treasured his friendships with his buddies and cousins that he nurtured while in his teen years and kept in contact with throughout his life. Tom attended Cass Street Elementary and Lincoln High School.
Tom was a United States Army veteran who served in post-WWII Japan.
Tom worked a number of jobs in and about the city before settling into a long-term position with Briggs and Stratton as a company timekeeper. In 1955, he and his wife, Margaret (Ann Hoffmann) began raising a family (of five boys) on the northwest side of Milwaukee.
After retirement Tom became a regular, active member of his health club and could also be seen taking his daily walks about the neighborhoods, an activity he thoroughly enjoyed. A devout Catholic, he later volunteered at the community food pantry in Menomonee Falls.
Tom is survived by his sons Dana (Diane), Glenn (Betty), Steve (Diana) and Michael (Dawn). As well, he is also survived by eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his son Keith. Tom will join Keith, his parents Thomas Sr. and Helen, and his siblings, Frederick, Angela and Richard, as well as many cousins and friends on his next journey.
A private service will be held for Tom's immediate family.
