Thomas "Tom" Hendricks, Age 74, found peace on June 4, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. Tom was born to Frank and Marie Hendricks in Milwaukee, WI on October 8, 1948. He graduated from Boys Technical High School in 1968 and was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served for two years in Germany. In 1973, Tom joined the Milwaukee Police Department where he served as an officer for 27 years, the last six of which were on the Motorcycle Unit.
Tom was the beloved husband of Patricia (nee Carriveau); loving father of Chad (Anna) Hendricks, Danielle (Craig) Bess, Amber (Jim) Remm and April (Michael) Antoniak. Proud Grandfather of George, Henry, Theodore, Joseph, Olive (arriving in September), Clayton, Kacey, Charlie, Brycen, Avery, Easton and Colton. Loving brother of James (Fay) Hendricks, Patricia (Shaker) Clark, Susan Tobin, Frank (Sharlee) Hendricks, Diane Swinson, Pamela (Robert) Somers, Victoria Reinke and Heidi Hendricks. He was a cherished brother-in-law of Glenn (Nancy) Carriveau, Pamela (Brian) Quella and Linda (Tony) Novak. Tom was a devoted friend to Vince and Patty Sciano and John and Judy Blakney. He will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews and close friends.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Marie Hendricks, sister Nancy (Dennis) Shelly, brother Dennis Hendricks, father-in-law Lawrence Carriveau, mother-in-law Virginia Carriveau, brother-in-law James Carriveau, and devoted friend Michael Wesolowski.
After Tom retired in 2000, he and his wife enjoyed several years in Crossville, Tennessee, but their growing family brought them back to Wisconsin. Tom's competitive spirit was lived out in his later years with ongoing golf and bowling leagues. He embraced a challenge and was always planning the next project. He took joy in his motorcycle trips, but he was most happy when spending time with his family and friends.
Per Tom's wishes, in lieu of a funeral service, a celebration of life will be a private family event.
